Staying healthy

This part of the year usually consists of coughs and sneezes in the Midwest. Personally, I hate catching a cold. Being sick forces us to feel drowsy and think less intelligently. Sometimes, feeling ill makes us resort to excluding others from life. Nothing positive can come out of being sick.
Life as an adult is tough but the same goes for a teenager. I question my credibility for this topic because I have never missed a day of school or work due to illness. But, I feel I am excellent source for lowering your risk in facing the common cold. It's not that I don't get sick, it's just I am usually not sick for a long period of time.

Every day, I try to make sure I drink at least one glass of orange juice and milk. I have no statistical research to back it up but I feel this is almost plenty of calcium and Vitamin C. I make sure to exercise 3-4 times to keep my heart and oxygen levels in check. After touching someone or being touched by someone who is sick, I make sure to wash my hands, just in case of a foreign substance in the air. I check the weather every day, to make sure I dress appropriately for the conditions outside. For example if it's going to rain, I make sure to bring an umbrella and a jacket. If it's cold outside, I put layers of clothing on. "You can always take off layers but you can't put layers back on." This is one of my favorite quotes because it's true in most scenarios. However, I understand people want to look good also so I have even more advise on this subject. I don't condone this behavior most of the time but I occasionally want to impress a cute girl in some of my classes. I will wear my regular outfit with some extras. I will wear spandex underneath my pants and shirt. I will wear extra long socks with my spandex tucked in. Then I will wear a winter jacket with ear muffs. This may sound irrational but believe me, I have been warm in this outfit many times.
I don't have all the solutions but I have made some suggestions. I am sure there are hundreds of ways to lowering your risk of getting sick. Just remember you can always have fun while being safe. Have a happy holidays and bundle up!
