Take chances

Chances. You don't know for sure the outcome but you know what could happen. Have you ever wondered what would have happened if you carried out on a certain action? Personally, I do... every day.
Your life could be so much different if you would have taken another route (metaphorically and literally) in life. Most of the biggest innovators of the 21st century, took chances on their inventions even though they weren't acceptable to society yet. Today, those individuals enjoy the good life on Wall Street and their private yachets while we all sit at home watching their life story, Rags to Riches, on CNN or MTV.
This may sound hypocritical but a person should have more regrets than what-ifs in their life. What-ifs drive a person insane because they didn't take the initiative to go to the next level or do something that had no significance at the time but had major importance presently. Regrets lead to awful thoughts and doubtful times in your head but at least you took the risk of seeing the possible outcome and not have that lingering thought in your mind forever.
This is a major mistake I have made in my life but I have learned a lot from it. I always wondered what if...

...I gave that certain girl a chance, what if I joined swimming, what if I never went to Snowball, what if I took the time to actually learn Chinese and Portuguese, what if I studied harder for my ACTs and SATs.... what if I lived life to be the best absolute person I could be? I guess you can see my point, we all have what-ifs in our life. But have you ever stopped to think how your regrets made you a stronger person. I came to that realization several times, years after certain events occurred. Overall, I am disappointed by those end results but in the long run, it made me who I am today.
Here are some examples of small chances you can take every day in your life... If someone asks you to join an organization(non-profit or non-solicit) or book club, try it out. You never know who you will meet. Should I go back to school? Go back to school, it doesn't matter where you go as long you further your education. You might discover something you love at school or a field that interests you. If you see someone across the room at work or school, go talk to them. You never know what you will learn from that person or the crazy life they lived. Haven't talk to a friend in a long time, call them or find a way to communicate to them. They could have experienced something dramatic in their life or afraid to call you because they thought you wouldn't pick up. Either way, you could make their day.
When life gives you opportunities, you should take advantage of them. They may seem scary at first but in the long-run, they will feel great.
A teen pop star once said, "Life's a climb but the view's great." For all the skeptics out there, I believe everyone should hear this quote once in their life to truly appreciate what life has given them.
